Notes

Households with a broadband internet subscription only include those households that pay a cell phone or internet service provider for the service. The percent of households that have access to broadband without paying for it is relatively small (approximately 3% in 2018). A broadband subscription includes a cellular data plan, cable, fiber optic, DSL, or satellite internet service. Data for 2020 were not officially released by the U.S. Census Bureau due to pandemic-related disruptions to data collection and resulting problems with data quality. The margin of error (MOE) represents the uncertainty of an estimate due to sampling variability; the calculated MOE is 95%.

Definitions

Percent of households that have a broadband internet subscription by Medicaid enrollment. Medicaid enrollment is defined as at least one person in the household having Medicaid coverage.
